Using Actioneer

Sending Action Messages for quick Web access.

Actioneer is easy to use.

Just click open an Actioneer Window, enter the Action Message you want executed, press [Enter], and Actioneer goes off to complete an action for you.

Combining the self-disclosure of the Graphical User Interface we now all use with the speed of the old Command Line Interface beloved of Unix and DOS users, Actioneer is both quick and easy to use in two senses: its self-disclosure makes it easy to adopt, and it is easy and quick in use once adopted.

When you enter an Action Message into Actioneer, either by typing it in or by “text grabbing” highlighted text on your screen, Actioneer determines the specific action you want it to take by detecting a keyword included anywhere in your message.

Don't know the keyword needed for the action you want? No problem—just click the Keywords button for a list of the Actioneer Connectors available to specific Websites, and select the one you want. The keywords are displayed, and, with another click, you can send the message to the desired destination.

Do this once or twice and the next time you want to invoke that Connector, you will not need to look it up, because you will remember its keyword.

Some connectors are invoked so rarely that you will not (nor need to) remember a keyword for them, but you can always invoke them by clicking the Keywords button.

Automatic log-in and Password Management.

Actioneer's Invisible Password Manager can log you in to password-protected Web sites in the course of completing an action like searching the site. The names of all connectors capable of auto login to password-protected sites end in PW.

To set them up for auto log-in, you first click open the Actioneer Vault and enter your user name and password for each site you want to access via Actioneer. These Web credentials are securely stored by Actioneer with Triple DES encryption. Thereafter, invoking the connector by keyword or manual selection results in automatic log-in to the site, with no special action on your part.

When you invoke a connector to execute an auto log-in, you are challenged to enter your Actioneer master password, the only password you need to commit to memory.

At the heart of Actioneer: Connectors.

A set of files called Connectors included with Actioneer determines the specific Web sites and the actions to be taken at each site. To learn more about the Connector set included with Actioneer, click here.
